This youtube video is a follow-up recap and expansion to a virtual workshop I did with teacher’s from Prince George’s County in MD. If you missed the workshop, this will be a great introduction. If you were at the workshop, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and voices. This video will fill in a few of the blanks. Thank you🎹💜🖤💜

Special thanks to Prince George’s County Public Schools and the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council!
PGATI: START WITH THE ARTS WITH AROUND THE PIANO The chatroom
This morning, I had the absolute pleasure of sharing a very brief introduction to ATP with attendees of the PRINCE GEORGES ARTS TEACHER INSTITUTE(PGATI). Such a wonderful group of people!

AROUND THE PIANO WORKS IN PERSON OR VIRTUALLY
ATP just finished a virtual “arts integration” program with Beacon Heights Elementary School made possible through a PRINCE GEORGE’S ARTS AND HUMANITIES COUNCIL grant. Thank you for so much joy! Ms. Fidler (a rock star teacher)and her second graders represented their school amazingly well. Thank you!

What about remorse?
What is the difference between guilt and remorse? How does your conscience play into your personal code of character?
Yes, I’m still looking for your thoughts on “joy”😃🖤💜🖤

More Joy “I WISH THAT I COULD FLY”
What is your definition of joy? If you consider yourself to be a joyful person, please share some thoughts on how you came to this “joy-filled” state of mind and how it manifests itself in real life. I will use any shared comments in my next ATP session to stimulate the creative/lyric writing portion. Thank you for your help.
Let’s Talk About Joy/Session 1 #joy#music#character#activity#creativity
Let’s talk about joy!
This week’s video will focus on joy. Do we have a right to be joyful? Is joy ever inappropriate? How does music effect your level of joy? We will be learning the song, “I Wish That I Could Fly”
Lyrics:
I WISH THAT I COULD FLY
I WISH THAT I COULD FLY
I WISH THAT I COULD HOLD YOU UP
AND SHOW YOU ALL THE CLOUDS CLOSE-UP
I WISH THAT I COULD FLY
I WISH THAT I COULD FLY
HAVE YOU SEEN A PAIR OF WINGS
I CAN’T SEEM TO FIND MINE
WILL YOU HELP ME FIND MINE

“Good Friends” See you On YouTube🎶
Greetings Music Lovers!
This week on AROUND THE PIANO/Character Building Through Music, we will be exploring the concept of Friendship.
I will teach the song, “Good Friends,” and invite you to dialogue with me about how friendship might play into your personal code of character
GOOD FRIENDS
V1:
Quiet as a little kitten.
Or loud as an elephant
Slow as molasses
Or faster than the fastest wind
You and I can stand alone
Or we can be good friends
V2:
We can stand on first impressions
But I think this is worth the wait
Peace might cost moments
But hope is worth much more than hate
Will you teach me how to reach you
So we can be good Friends
Bridge/chorus
I like having a good friend that’s new
Someone who will like me
For who I am now
Not who I once was or might be
For me not for who they think I should be
V3
I can’t tell what you are thinking
And you can’t see into my heart
Trust might come easy
Maybe we just have to start
Can we build on understanding
So we can be good friends
You and I can stand alone
Or we can be good friends
